I am not Brene Brown or Dr. Phil. I could only dream of having their insight. This is not just another highlights reel of an imperfect life perfectly faked. This is not another blog about fluffy motivation and life advice useful only in an ideal world. Is it just me or has Instagram turned everyone into life coaches giving deep meaningful advice below perfectly posed photos of Cappuccinos and vistas? Life isn’t a highlight reel and it isn’t perfect but it can be perfectly amazing if you are open to it.

I have had more jobs than I can count… I mean it, I’ve tried. I’ve done everything from working in video stores, to mucking stalls on horse farms, to scribbling henna tattoos on drunk club goers. I lived in Manhattan in my early 20’s studying film and acting, and then ran out of money. So I came home and went back to college to study corporate media and event planning. That led me to a successful career as a Trade Show Coordinator for a national magazine and I nurtured that career for 6 years.

On paper I had a conventionally successful life. At least that’s how it looked on the outside. I had a career, a lovely townhouse, and a wonderful circle of friends and family. But I wasn’t happy. Something was missing in my life and it gnawed at me.

Then in 2014 I was presented with a unique, life changing opportunity and after pandering back and forth I finally decided to go for it. I quit my corporate career, put my belongings into a storage locker and began a career as a shopping presenter on some of the worlds largest cruise ships. Friends and family told me I was nuts for walking away from my safe and comfortable life I had built. It was a risky decision but I knew in my heart it was the right decision. I have always believed the bigger the risk – the bigger the reward! Since then I have sailed the high seas, travelled the world and nothing can compare to the journey inside me. It’s been a wild ride.

What’s in it for you?

Too many people are fixed in the same position and unable to go after their dreams. You work all day for someone else, you spend far too much time commuting and then you spend all night taking care of your family. You don’t make time for yourself anymore, and if you do you stay in the safe zone. Those dreams and goals in the back of your mind become “One day’s”, or worse “I wish I had’s”.  Wouldn’t you love to find ways to incorporate those dreams into the life you already have and turn them into accomplishments? I promise you laughs, inspiration, world stories and practical tips for becoming an active participant in the trajectory of your best life.

I’ve never been afraid to try new things. I love learning, I love exploring, I love to find out what I’m good at and I think it’s hilarious when I found out I’m really bad at something. Like playing guitar… talk about failing horribly! I think my neighbours have finally forgiven me for the pain I caused their ears. But I had so much fun figuring that out, and I will never wonder if I could have had a career in music. I’ll leave that to those with actual talent.

Why am I telling you all of this?

I want to inspire you to live your own life in a way that fills your heart with excitement, pride and fulfillment. I want your confidence to take off like a sleeve of mentos in a bottle of diet coke. I want your heart to flutter like the wings of a hummingbird… wait no that’s tachycardia…cancel that…  I want your heart to swell with love for your own life. I want you to wake up each day excited for what’s ahead and reeling from the great experiences you’ve had. I want you to live vivaciously and purposely.
